Most inshore waters in Louisiana were closed on December 18th. We are seeing declines in shrimp sizing, mostly limiting those to 130/150 to 150/up count peeled shrimp. Supplies of peeled and P&D shrimp in the 71/90 and larger range are very limited and are not expected to be produced in any substantial quantity until the start of the new season in May. On headless, the numerous import disruptions have led to increased demand of domestic headless shrimp and higher pricing. Overall, the decrease in raw product availability combined with limited frozen inventories is expected to lead to increased bidding on any raw material bought through the spring.
